  1. Jim,

Your topic and my topic are super similar! Technology in school communication is really interesting because we are currently in school and as technology develops, it is becoming more prevalent with our studies. My question for you is: Based on your conclusion that there is a technology gap between teachers and students, are there any steps that can be taken to close this gap? If there has not been enough research done on this yet, what do you think is the first step that should be taken to close this interpersonal divide and why?

  2. In your Literature Review, you referenced a study conducted by Waxman, which found that 34.5% of technology used in schools was used for communication, compared to only 9.7% being used for student learning. With this in mind, are students more apt to use technology just to engage in online social interactions with friends hindering them from engaging in face-to-face conversations with students their own age, as well as their overall learning experience?

  3. You talked about the fact that schools have reported to be using technology more for communication rather than for student learning. What are the effects of this on the students' abilities to learn?

  4. There is massive movement to integrate technology into the classroom nowadays. While doing your research have you come across any possible new ideas for the classroom that the critics are predicting? For example, will children be taught by a computer in the future? That is a rather extreme way of putting it, but we as a society are charging ahead towards a more technological future in and our of the classroom. Another question I have is has your research reviled anything that Denison may lack? For example, Ohio State has the best of the best printers and we don't. There seems to be a undeclared tech race for high end, well known schools; specifically colleges.

  5. Jim,
In our would education is the key to our development as a nation. With other country's such as China repeatedly outscoring our youth on exams, it seems to be a waste of our resources to have our technology used for communicational purposes. Do you believe this to be true? Or do you believe that we are using our technology in school in the most beneficial manner?

  6. In your literature review you talk about emailing your professor to talk about sensitive subjects in class. I was curious if the ability to use technology to communicate with teachers and students through technology is causing a decline in student's ability to participate in face-to-face conversations with their teachers and overall with their peers?

  7. What is your opinion of the topic of communication and technology in college classrooms such as ours. Do you believe technologyis used correctly in this setting, used not enough, or used to much?

  8. Hello Jim,

In your Literature Review you state that since the 1980s there has been an integration of CMC in schools. However, there has been a strong push back from using technology in the classroom in my experience. We live in an era where not only computer scientists, but everyone as a whole, needs to acquire computing skills. How could the education system incorporate technology while maintaining attention and respect from the students?

  9. Tim, In your research you give great detail on the new technologies we as scholars use to aid our education. In your opinion what are the best technologies to aid your own education?
